Live Chat Support Agent

Salary: R23 000 - R25 000 per month

Remote Recruitment is hiring a Live Chat Support Agent for a UK employer, fully remote from South Africa.

Role overview

You will be the first person a UK customer speaks to, answering live chats quickly and clearly and solving what you can on the spot. It suits someone who types fast, stays calm and genuinely likes helping people.

You will work 09:00-17:00 UK time (11:00-19:00 SAST) from home, with equipment guidance, a proper induction and a manager who is contactable through the day. This is a permanent role, not a short contract.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound live chats within the agreed response time
• Resolve common queries directly using the knowledge base
• Raise and track tickets for issues needing another team
• Keep accurate notes on every conversation
• Spot recurring problems and flag them to the team lead
• Maintain a friendly, human tone even at busy times

What you'll need

• One or more years in customer service, live chat, call centre or retail support
• Fast, accurate typing with clear written English
• Experience with a helpdesk tool such as Zendesk, Freshdesk or Intercom
• Patience under volume and a calm approach to frustrated customers
• Reliable home internet and a quiet space for UK-hours work

Nice to have

• Exposure to e-commerce or subscription support
• Experience with multi-chat handling
• Familiarity with knowledge-base writing
